John has worked in the field of solar energy since 1985 as a contractor, salesperson, engineer and for the past 5 years, consultant. He has worked extensively with every type of installation from residential to small retail to large industrial manufacturing to government to utility scale solar farms.
In early 2012 VeriSol was retained by a Fortune 250 company to perform research and assist in developing a new “disruptive” business model for selling residential solar. During that research, we realized that there was a new solution that dramatically simplified residential solar installations and solved some problems that would make it easier to sell to untapped markets.
After taking a close look at the residential solar market, including sales processes and installation methods, we realized that there was a great benefit of AC Solar (factory installed micro inverters) and furthermore, a true synergy of combining AC solar with railless racking. This results in a product that is UL listed as an “AC module” and is warranted as a single product. This is a VERY important distinction that gives this product a great advantage over conventional micro inverter solutions.
The modular and scalable feature is significant. This allows for small “starter” systems that can be easily expanded later. This in turn makes more feasible smaller sales (< $10k) based on cash, or cash mixed with consumer credit.
